Lead Magnet: What is a Lead Magnet and Why Do You Need One?
Perhaps you’ve heard of a lead magnet, but you’re not completely clear on what it is and if you need one. Hopefully, the following will help you understand what it is and how you can use one to build your business. And of course, if you have any other questions, you can comment after this post.
So, let’s talk lead magnets.
What is a Lead Magnet?
A lead magnet is something that you offer for free on your website. It is meant to help connect you with people who need you. In order for them to get the free content that you’re offering, they give you their email so that you can send it to them.
Both of these leads magnets are aimed at people who want to start a business or are in the early stages of their business. They give people direction on how to set up the foundation for their business and focus on the important things as well as teach them some of the technical aspects that can be overwhelming.
Your lead magnet needs to be something valuable that is related to what you offer your customers so that the people who end up on your email list
Why do you need a Lead Magnet?
So, do you really need one? In most cases, you will find that having the right lead magnet will help you connect with your potential customers, boost your sales, and help you build your business.
Most of us are on several different social media platforms. We share our content and our offers and tweet them out into the world and cross our fingers. But, with social media, you have no control. Facebook has built in safeguards to ensure that people advertise with them – which means that they keep most of your followers from seeing the things you post.
Social media alone is not a reliable place to put your products and services and have people flocking to your website to make a purchase.
That’s where the lead magnet comes in. Your lead magnet helps you build an email list of people who are looking for what you offer. You now have direct access to them through their email. You can build relationships and eventually invite them to purchase from you on your terms.
Not only does having a lead magnet and building your email list allow you to take control, but it helps position you as an authority. Your potential customers get used to seeing you in the inbox, get used to all of the valuable content that you send them (that they actually need) and now know who their go-to person is when they need help.
They get what they need, you get what you need… it’s a win-win!
