Best Web Hosting: How to Know Which Hosting Package is Right for You
Using WordPress.org means that you will also need to sign up for web hosting services. When it’s time to purchase your hosting account, there are a lot of options out there and it can be a little confusing as to what you actually need. Hopefully, the following will help you decide which one is the best web hosting package for you. And of course, if you have any other questions, you can comment after this post.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been working on someone’s website only to find that they have not only signed up for something they don’t need (and are paying way too much for), but that they have actually signed up for something that is hindering their website as opposed to supporting it.
So, it’s my hope that the following will help you make the right decision for you given your circumstances.
Best Web Hosting for Starting Out
I have used HostGator for years for my own sites and recommend it to my clients because it’s easy to use, very affordable, and has never given me any issues (although everyone you talk to will have their own opinion about who they like as a host and experiences they have had).
HostGator also has semi-regular sales and flash sales where you can save 60%. So, if you’re currently considering the option, but aren’t quite ready, then check HERE on a regular basis. We will have any upcoming sales posted as the pinned post with all of the information you need!
Picking the Best Web Hosting Package for You
When you get to the HostGator site, you will click on the big yellow button that says “Get Started Now!”.
There are really two basic packages that you need to choose from – the “Hatchling” or the “Baby”.
Web Hosting: The Hatchling Plan
The Hatchling Plan gives you everything you need to host a single domain. This is perfect if you have no plans of starting multiple websites and still allows you to create multiple sites related to that same domain by creating subdomains. So, if at some point you wanted to create separate a site (a store, an online class) that’s connected to your original domain, you could still do that. An example would be store.yourdomain.com.
Web Hosting: The Baby Plan
The Baby Plan is basically the same as the Hatchling Plan, except that you can host unlimited domains. I use this package because I have 8-10 domains I’m hosting and websites I’m playing around with at any given time (it’s kinda my thing). So, if you are a multi-passionate person, or want to have a personal website and business website, then this might be the right package for you.
Saving Money on your Web Hosting
Once you choose the right option for you, it’s time to check out.
Here are a couple of tips that will help you save money.
You have the option to pay month to month, purchase one, two, or three years at a time. The longer the time period you purchase, the cheaper it is per month and per year.
If you are going to create a website using WordPress.org, then you can uncheck all of the additional options on the checkout page. You won’t need these because there are free tools you can use with WordPress.org that will take care of backups and security.
And don’t forget! Check HERE to see if there is a current sale coming up so you can save on your hosting package!
